Melanence is an online learning community for BIPOC entrepreneurs looking to accelerate their business. We provide a safe space for entrepreneurs of color to learn from industry experts & create meaningful professional connections.
WHY ARE WE FOCUSING ON BIPOC BUSINESS OWNERSHIP?
Business ownership has long been a path to asset building and economic mobility. Not only does it offer the opportunity to improve the financial security of individual entrepreneurs, it also serves as a gateway to individual and community wealth building.
Unfortunately, though business ownership is a fundamental engine for wealth creation, entrepreneurs of color face several challenges that make it more difficult to leverage business ownership into an asset that leads to long-term financial security.
Melanence exists to promote Black +Brown entrepreneurship, to provide access to educational resources, and to facilitate opportunities for entrepreneurs of color to build a strong melanated support system.
One Size Doesn’t Fit All. All entrepreneurs are different. They come from different backgrounds, cultures & communities. For business support services to be effective and engaging, there needs to be a more diverse approach to business strategy. Many online webinars, training programs, and even accelerator programs treat all entrepreneurs the same, and a “One size fits all” approach works just as well for business development as it does for clothing, which is not well at all.
The Melanence community thrives because of the contributions of the members of the community. This allows us to provide the most value to each member of the community. As the needs of the community change, so will the content and focus of the trainings. We understand BIPOC entrepreneurs because we too are BIPOC entrepreneurs.
We understand the importance of seeing ourselves in the spaces we want to be in. Our platform serves as a reminder that Melanated Excellence is not an exception, but in fact, it is the norm!
Many BIPOC entrepreneurs don’t have access to a strong network of melanated business owners to learn from and bounce ideas off of. The main reason? Not nearly as many people of color, on average, have successful entrepreneurs within their families or social circles.
Research reveals that mentoring has a significant impact on small business success. Learn from and connect with amazing melanated entrepreneurs on Melanence.
Once you become a member, you will be invited to join the Melanence Slack channel. Here is where you can take your networking to the next level, and connect with industry experts and entrepreneurs of color in your field.
